Heyah, just an announcement. I'll try to build some about-site for the GNU Bash shell.
The site will be at bash-hackers.org, currently just a test-wise forum software is active at http:forum.bash-hackers.org.
Brandnew installed (1 day before) and thus needs users and content. If you have a question about Bash, just ask it there.

Happy new year to all out there!
News? Hm. Let's see where Ekiga will hopefully move this year:

  • XV Patch: A patch for X11 direct video is in our hands

  • IAX2 Patch: Same for IAX2 session protocol support (OPAL already talks IAX2)

  • Addressbooks: Probably a complete new addressbook system, very flexible and extendible

I like to get better in C++ (Ekiga GUI is C code) and I like to understand the GObject code from GLib.
For everything I mentioned above I need something that turned out to be very rare recently: time...

  • A new version of Ekiga (current is 2.0.3) should be released soon, with a changed GUI and other improvements

  • A new definition of greycat's mind (seen in #bash): There is no chin behind greycat's beard. There is only another script.

  • I didn't listen to rockmusic for months, tonight I did it again... It feels like I needed it...

recently in #bash:
[twb] If I say "bar || :", baz will run, but foo's exit code won't reflect bar's.
Everything clear now??

I made a - maybe rough - april fool's joke yesterday:
Damien announced Ekiga will become non-free on his site.
I took the chance to announce the neccesary changes due to that decision: License headers, pay for Ekiga.NET SIP service, etc...
While clarifying the joke, I thanked all supporters. I carefully choosed the word supporters to not forget anybody, but it seems it was not careful enough, as at least one guy thought, I forgot him.
To clarify what support for Ekiga means for me:

  • mental support. Keep the project alive by using and liking it. Don't think this isn't important!

  • reporting bugs. Who should find bugs if not you? Me? Nah :-) That would imply that I test what I code ;-)

  • giving critics. Positive and negative. But don't mix up critism and trolling...

  • advertising. Making the Project popular in the community

  • contributing translations. I didn't grow up in Tuvalu, but maybe you!

  • contributing code. Hey, it just looks like that I can code. Infact I'm learning it!

  • supporting others. Stay tuned on IRC and on the mailinglists. Damien can't be everywhere!

That is support. I never limited it to coding.

Just added some more content. The style still doesn't convince me. But well, who cares on styles.

Improved the script. The site might go online, soon.
The technics are not the problem. The contents are ;-)

Testing a new page generation script. Seems to work nice, though needs some improvements.
